Developers of Ethereum launched the final testnet Zinken ahead of the transition to Phase Zero of ETH2 on the mainnet. In an interview with DeCrypt, the lead Ethereum 2.0 developer Danny Ryan said.
\n
Zinken is to serve as a \”dress rehearsal\” for the creation of the Ethereum 2.0 genesis block. The previous testnet Spadina failed largely due to inadequate support for the latest Prysm client version.
\n
\”The genesis block creation went smoothly. This is what we expected. Client teams will use the results of Zinken for final audits and the latest preparations for the mainnet launch,\” Ryan said.

On October 13, Prysmatic Labs announced a web interface for Prysm Eth2.
\n
As of writing, validator participation stood at 82.9%. On Spadina’s peak this metric reached 77%, at launch it stood at 35%, which was below expectations.
\n
For staking in Zinken, 4,525 validators deposited 144,800 test ETH.

As with Spadina, Zinken allowed testing of the network deployment and the deposit contract. The network will run in parallel with the active Medalla testnet. In three days, developers will discontinue its support.

Back in September, Ethereum 2.0 developer Evan Van Ness said that the countdown to Ethereum 2.0 launch was weeks away.
\n
A few days later, cybersecurity expert Chase Wright expressed doubts about the advisability of staking after the launch of Phase Zero of Ethereum 2.0.
