Aave Founder Rules Out Token Launch for Horizon Initiative

The launch of a token under the Horizon initiative, focused on integrating RWA and DeFi, is not planned. This was stated by Aave founder Stani Kulechov, citing DAO consensus on the matter.

In March, Horizon was presented as a licensed fork of Aave with its own configuration for the institutional market.

During a «temperature check», community members rejected a proposal that implied a 15% distribution and revenue sharing in the event of a new coin’s creation.

This raised concerns that the emergence of an additional asset would undermine the value of AAVE and its positioning as the sole governance and utility token.

Kulechov stated that developers would adhere to the consensus. Community members welcomed the decision.

«Glad this got resolved. Aave turned out to be more decentralized than I thought,» reacted Lito Coen from Socket Protocol.

Following the cancellation of the token issuance plan, the deployment of Horizon remains uncertain.

«RWA exploration will continue once a right approach is found,» Kulechov reported.

Back in July, DAO participants launched and subsequently approved a proposal to redistribute transaction fees to purchase AAVE on the secondary market.
