Aksakov proposes registering mining as a form of entrepreneurial activity

The mining of cryptocurrencies should be added to the registry as a type of entrepreneurial activity, according to Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market. This was reported by «ТАСС».

In his words, mining «очевидно» should be entered into the registry, assigned an appropriate code, and taxation introduced.

Aksakov also noted that further discussions should be held for clearer regulation of digital currencies.

«We still need to discuss the point that digital currency, in fact now, although we call it currency, is more often used as a financial instrument, a financial asset that is an object for investment, rather than used as a means of payment», — added the official.

As noted, regulatory oversight of mining in Russia is currently absent. Under the law “On Digital Financial Assets”, cryptocurrencies are recognised as property.

In February the State Duma also approved in the first reading bill on taxation of operations with crypto assets.
