Aksakov says Russia's cryptocurrency regulation to be decided within a month

In addition to the Finance Ministry’s proposals for regulating cryptocurrencies, there are other options that are also planned to be considered. This was stated by Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma committee on the financial market, according to РБК.

He added that a decision on amendments to the legislation governing digital currencies would be made in about a month.

Earlier in September, the Ministry of Finance proposed to prohibit miners from receiving cryptocurrency.

The ministry also laid out penalties and criminal liability for issuing and circulating digital rights and digital currency that bypass the Russian information infrastructure, tied to substantial profits.

Later, the Ministry of Finance presented a new package of amendments requiring reporting to tax authorities on transfers and receipts if the amount of assets is equivalent to 100,000 rubles per year.

The amendments also introduce criminal liability for undeclared cryptocurrency.
