
Alleged Trickbot Hacker Arrested in Moscow
On July 15, an alleged member of the hacker group behind the Trickbot botnet was detained in Moscow at the request of Interpol, according to the Telegram channel Baza.
According to available information, 37-year-old Fedor A. is wanted by German authorities. In addition to his connection with Trickbot, he is suspected of organizing criminal and terrorist groups, computer sabotage, violating the secrecy of correspondence, and extortion.
The individual is currently in custody.
Since 2016, the Trickbot malware has operated as an infostealer and banking trojan. It was used to attack financial institutions, government agencies, private companies, and individuals.
The botnet’s activities, which caused tens of millions of dollars in damage, were halted in 2022.
In January 2024, a U.S. court sentenced Russian Vladimir Dunaev, involved in the development of Trickbot, to five years and four months in prison.
Six of his accomplices are also involved in the case.
