The Miami-based luxury yacht charter company Prime Experiencesadded the ability to pay for services in the first cryptocurrency.
With the rollout of the new feature, the firm expects to generate about $6.5 million in annual revenue. The outlook is twice the previous level.
“This type of currency has opened many doors. We are currently negotiating with the mayor of Miami, who is interested in expanding the use of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the city,” said company president Jose David Tobon.
Prime Experiences also announced that its web services and mobile platform would be migrated to the blockchain to improve transaction security.
In late 2020, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said that “open to exploring” the possibility of investing 1% of the city budget reserves in digital gold.
