Analysts reveal Coinbase salary levels

Analysts at Business Insider studied the salaries Coinbase, the Bitcoin exchange, offered to some specialists. Thus, a backend engineer was promised $160,000 per year.

The publication stressed that only H-1B visas were considered. This is a nonimmigrant visa that allows highly specialized professionals to work in the United States for a limited period. The data include only salary information, with no compensation, bonuses or benefits.

According to the analysts, Coinbase submitted the largest number of H-1B petitions among cryptocurrency companies. The publication cited several positions with high salaries:

• business analyst — $148,500 per year;
• junior business development manager — $140,000;
• Data Scientist — $160,000;
• HR manager — $125,100–$135,000;
• senior development manager — $260,000;
• senior recruiter — $155,015.

One Twitter user noted that salaries increase severalfold with bonuses. For example, the base salary of an entry-level software engineer at $135,000 climbs to $187,000. At the top end, the total can reach $505,000.

In April, Business Insider studied around 100 H-1B visas for roles mentioning blockchain or cryptocurrency. At that time, a distributed ledger technology consultant was offered about $100,000, and a financial analyst—$312,000.

In the run-up to its direct listing on Nasdaq, Coinbase distributed to each of its 1700 full-time employees 100 shares.

In June the Bitcoin exchange opened a technology centre in India and sought to attract talented specialists one-off payments in cryptocurrency.
