Analysts say Bitcoin was the most profitable investment of 2021.

Bitcoin delivered the highest return to retail investors in 2021 compared with other instruments. This was stated by analysts from the audit and consulting network FinExpertiza, according to Izvestia.

Experts calculated the nominal annual return on a 100 000 ruble investment at the start of 2021.

The most profitable instrument turned out to be Bitcoin. An investor who put 100 00 rubles into the cryptocurrency at the start of the year could have earned 65.6% profit after paying 13% personal income tax.

Real estate took second place in the ranking of investments with the highest annual return; third and fourth were American and Russian stocks.

The least profitable over the year were investments in euros, government and corporate bonds, and gold. Their returns for the year were either flat or negative, experts noted.

As reported by Investing.com, 46% of unqualified investors in Russia consider cryptocurrencies as a defensive asset.

According to Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, Russians invested 5 trillion rubles in crypto assets.
