Angel Drainer Ceases Operations Following Organisers’ Exposure

The crypto-phishing service Angel Drainer has halted its operations after cybersecurity researchers from Match Systems identified its organisers.

Experts from the company stated they are investigating thefts involving Angel Drainer and promised assistance to the victims of the malware.

“Two hours after our publication on the deanonymization of the drainer’s participants, their Telegram channel announced that the service had been stopped,” they wrote. 

DaaS platform Angel Drainer emerged around August 2023. It offers tools for stealing cryptocurrencies for a 20% commission and an initial deposit ranging from $5,000 to $10,000.

According to experts from Blockaid, the drainer has stolen over $25 million from 35,000 users in total. It has been linked to attacks on Ledger Connect Kit and EigenLayer.

Back in May, the phishing service Pink Drainer, which targeted cryptocurrency wallets, announced its closure. In early July, the hackers behind its development suffered from an “address poisoning” attack.
