Anthropic Unveils New Chatbot Claude 3

Anthropic announced the AI model Claude 3. According to the company, the chatbot is the fastest and most powerful among its competitors. 

The new tool is available in three versions. The most powerful of the new models, Claude 3 Opus, has outperformed OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Google’s Gemini Ultra in tests. 

The Sonnet and Haiku models are lighter and cheaper than Opus. The company thanked partners Airtable and Asana for their assistance in conducting A/B testing.

Claude 3 offers multimodal support. Users can upload photos, charts, documents, and other types of unstructured data for analysis and response generation.

Anthropic stated that the chatbot can process up to 150,000 words. The previous version managed 75,000. Users can input large data sets and request summaries in the form of notes, letters, or stories.

“We have made significant progress in the chatbot’s contextual understanding. The Claude 3 models demonstrate a deeper comprehension of prompts and are much less likely to refuse to respond to harmless requests,” the company’s blog states.

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employee Dario Amodei. Today, it is one of the most talked-about AI startups. Over the past year, it has received about $7.3 billion from Amazon, Google, Salesforce, and other investors.

In December 2023, media reported on Anthropic’s intention to raise $750 million.
