Apple asked Telegram to close channels publishing Belarusian security forces' personal data

Apple has demanded that the Telegram messenger block three channels publishing the personal data of Belarusian security forces, Telegram founder Pavel Durov said.

Apple representatives say that publishing the personal data of security forces could provoke violence.

Durov said he would prefer not to interfere with the channels, but Apple typically leaves little choice for apps like Telegram.

‘Unfortunately, I expect that these channels will be blocked on iOS, but will remain accessible on other platforms,’ he wrote.

As experts noted, Telegram was one of the few services operating in Belarus during the internet blackout.

At that time, Durov said that the messenger had activated anti-censorship tools for users in Belarus.
