Apple Integrates ChatGPT into Siri

On December 11, Apple released a software update for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, incorporating ChatGPT support into the Siri voice assistant.

The chatbot from OpenAI is engaged when a complex question is posed. Before accessing ChatGPT, users must grant permission to share information.

Apple asserts that privacy safeguards are embedded in the system, and OpenAI does not store queries.

The integration facilitates interaction with the GPT-4o version. Users do not require an OpenAI account.

Apple Intelligence is available to owners of the Pro versions of iPhone 15 and the entire iPhone 16 lineup.

Among other AI updates in iOS 18.2:

  • emoji generation within Genmoji;
  • an image creation platform, Image Playground;
  • technologies for visual information analysis, Visual Intelligence;
  • an object removal feature from photos, Image Wand.

Genmoji can create emojis based on prompts, which can be used in messages and reactions.

Visual Intelligence is accessible via the camera control button, introduced in the iPhone 16 lineup. The tool can scan QR codes, text, identify phone numbers and email addresses for contact addition, and translate information into another language. The service gains access to ChatGPT.

Image Playground can generate images based on prompts or photos.

Back in late October, the public release of Apple Intelligence took place, granting users of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 access to the initial AI features.
