Argentine bank opens access to cryptocurrencies for clients

One of Argentina’s largest banks — Banco Galicia — has opened access to cryptocurrencies for its clients. On its platform, users can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and the stablecoin USDC.

The initiative was driven, in part, by client demand. The bank does not offer custodial services — storage of digital assets is handled by the infrastructure provider Lirium.

Brubank, another Argentine bank, also announced the launch of the cryptocurrency service. Its users gained access to Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDC and DAI. The company noted that the feature would be rolled out gradually to all customers.

Earlier, the IMF included in Argentina’s debt refinancing plan a clause implying ban on cryptocurrency dealings in the country.
