Public mining company Argo Blockchain has bought two data centres in the Canadian province of Quebec. The facilities, previously owned by GPU.one, use capacity from a local hydroelectric plant.

According to the press release, the aggregate capacity of the data centres is 20 MW. A “significant portion” of Argo Blockchain’s equipment is already housed there.
“We aim to better control our mining operations and the costs associated with them, as well as lay the groundwork for long-term growth,” said Peter Wall, the company’s CEO.
GPU.one ceased operations. The company owned two facilities— in New Brunswick and Quebec. The first, in February 2021, along with its core team перешел under the control of HIVE Blockchain Technologies.
Argo Blockchain also joined the Crypto Climate Accord initiative to decarbonise the mining industry. In partnership with blockchain company DMG Blockchain Solutions, it has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from electricity consumption to zero by 2030.

Earlier in March 2021, Argo Blockchain and DMG Blockchain signed a memorandum of understanding. The parties will create «green» pool for Bitcoin mining.
