In Angarsk, the investigation into a criminal case against four local residents accused of a series of cryptocurrency mining equipment thefts has been completed. The local Interior Ministry said.
According to investigators, the perpetrators used a crowbar and an angle grinder to break into garage boxes and steal ASIC miners. Over several months, they committed four thefts. The losses exceeded 500,000 rubles.
The police recovered all the stolen equipment and returned it to the owners.
The criminal case has been forwarded to Angarsk City Court for trial on the merits.
Earlier, ForkLog reported that the Irkutsk region police uncovered another series of mining equipment thefts. Three local residents were detained after they carried the devices through a hole in the roof.
