Aurora team to airdrop native token and launch new platform

Aurora developers, the layer-2 protocol for the NEAR network, announced the launch of the Aurora+ platform with staking of the native token. It will be distributed via an airdrop, according to the press release.

All users who register on Aurora+ within the first week will receive AURORA.

As part of the free basic account, users of the platform will be entitled to 50 free transactions per month.

Data: Aurora.

Rewards are available in both the native token and from the ecosystem’s decentralized applications.

In addition to the AURORA airdrop, developers promised to randomly distribute 111 NFTs from the new Aurobots collection by Mr.Brown. Token holders will be entitled to 500 free transactions per month.

In the future, the functionality of Aurora+ will expand to include participation in the governance of AuroraDAO, as well as private transactions. In addition, paid premium plans for a higher number of transactions and a universal Know Your Customer (KYC) for all applications are expected.

The NEAR Protocol team launched the Aurora L2 protocol to interact with Ethereum in May 2021.

At the time of writing, the total value locked in DeFi protocols on Aurora stands at $469.2 million, according to DeFi Llama.

About 55% of the total is attributable to Bastion. In March 2022 the project attracted undisclosed seed funding. In April Bastion closed a Series A round of $9 million led by Three Arrows Capital.

The Aurora ecosystem is also backed by Pantera Capital, Electric Capital, Dragonfly Capital, Alameda Research, and other venture investors.

In May, the Aurora team launched a $90 million fund to support DeFi projects.
