Avalanche team unveils browser wallet and Bitcoin bridge

Ava Labs has unveiled Core, a browser wallet for Web3 applications built on the Avalanche network. As part of the app, a bridge to the Bitcoin blockchain was included.

According to the press release, Core is a non-custodial wallet. Developers position the extension as an ‘operating system’ that unifies all decentralised applications built on Avalanche.

The application offers users a suite of nine core services, including the cross-chain solution Avalanche Bridge. The latter, unlike its web version, allows interaction with Bitcoin, not only Ethereum.

In the statement, the company says that the first cryptocurrency tokenises into the wrapped asset BTC.b on the Avalanche blockchain. This allows the asset to be used in DeFi applications of the ecosystem.

As reported in April 2022, Bloomberg said that Ava Labs opened a funding round of $350 million at a valuation of $5.25 billion.
