AWS Outage Disrupts Coinbase and Numerous Services
AWS outage disrupts Coinbase, Snapchat, Reddit, and more.
A major outage at Amazon Web Services (AWS) led to the temporary shutdown of dozens of online platforms. The issues affected Snapchat, Reddit, Hulu, gaming services, and cryptocurrency exchanges.
The disruption was caused by technical difficulties at the US-EAST-1 data center in the United States. The AWS team reported an “elevated error rate” in the API of the DynamoDB system. This database processes hundreds of thousands of requests per second for streaming services, payment systems, and games.
At the time of writing, platform representatives reported “significant signs of recovery” and a gradual return to normal operations.
The Coinbase team reported partial restoration of platform functionality for some users.
Update: we’re seeing early signs of recovery, with some users being able to access and use Coinbase services now.
Our team is still working on this issue with top priority. We will continue to provide updates as the situation changes.

Trust Wallet also faced temporary disruptions in exchange and notification services but assured users that their assets remain secure.
We are aware that users are experiencing temporary issues due to a wider AWS outage affecting multiple services.
Including in-app swaps (enabled by our swap providers) & all notifications.
Our systems and user assets remain safe🛡️
We’re monitoring the situation closely.

The incident highlighted the crypto industry’s reliance on centralized infrastructure. Social media users noted the irony of a “decentralized platform going offline due to a single cloud provider’s outage.”
#AWS COINBASE in chaos: users locked out, trades frozen, panic spreading. AWS goes down and suddenly Coinbase can’t buy, sell, or even log in.
The platform preaching “decentralization” just got taken out by one centralized cloud.
Irony level: off the charts. pic.twitter.com/01mppDnpxR
