Bank of Russia says major economies will not legalise Bitcoin
Major economies will not legalise Bitcoin, as this would pose risks to financial stability. This was stated by the deputy chairman of the Bank of Russia, Alexei Zabotkin, according to TASS.
In his words, it is unlikely that countries will follow El Salvador’s path, where the first cryptocurrency was recognised as an official means of payment.
\”I don’t think any major economy will go down that path,\” said Zabotkin.
He also stressed that the Bank of Russia regards cryptocurrencies as digital monetary surrogates, and the only legal means of payment in Russia is the ruble.
Earlier, the head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina spoke against the use of cryptocurrencies for settlements between citizens.
