Bank of Russia Sets Tariffs for Digital Ruble Operations

The Bank of Russia утвердил tariffs for operations with the digital ruble; they will come into effect on 1 January 2025.

The tariff for businesses for accepting CBDC as payment for goods and services will be 0.3% of the payment amount, but not more than 1,500 rubles.

For companies providing housing and utilities services, the tariff is set at 0.2%, but not more than 10 rubles.

The commission for transfers between legal entities will be 15 rubles per operation.

Until 1 January 2025, all interactions with digital rubles on the Bank of Russia’s platform will be free.

Individuals and legal entities will be able to open only one digital wallet. Its replenishment from bank accounts and transfers of digital rubles from wallets to bank accounts will also be free.

In addition, the Bank of Russia’s board of directors одобрил the logo of the new asset.

It will be integrated into banks’ mobile applications, through which users will be able to open digital wallets and perform operations with the asset.

As reported, President Vladimir Putin signed the law on the introduction of a national CBDC and the creation of the corresponding electronic platform on July 24.

Later, the Bank of Russia set out for banks the requirements for information security of digital ruble operations.

Russian citizens will have the opportunity to use the asset in 2025–2027 widely.
