The artist Mike Winkelmann (Beeple) reported that the URL directing to his official Discord server was hacked. Users were redirected to a fraudulent channel.

“Do not enter this Discord and do not verify, it will drain your wallet,” he warned.
A few hours before his post, a user named maxnaut.eth drew attention to suspicious activity involving the artist’s official channel. He contacted Winkelmann on Twitter and reported that the OpenSea listing for his NFT collection BEEPLE: EVERYDAYS — THE 2020 COLLECTION included a link to a scammers’ Discord.

According to the screenshot, users were asked to confirm their account via a bot, but the actions led to the CollabLand wallet being drained.
“Likely, your Discord URL was hacked, and the team hasn’t updated it in OS. You need to change that as soon as possible, or people will be affected,” urged maxnaut.eth.
Later he said that Beeple apparently “responded and fixed” the problem.
The artist himself blamed Discord for the incident, calling the platform ‘garbage’. Cybersecurity experts did not share his view. They said the issue likely stems from mismanagement of URLs by Beeple’s team.

In May, hackers broke into the Discord servers of the NFT project Bored Ape Yacht Club and placed phishing links. The attackers’ haul consisted of digital assets worth 200 ETH (~$359,000 at the time). The losses suffered by users as a result of the latest Beeple attack are unknown.
In the same month, hackers hacked the artist’s Twitter account. They posted phishing links to a site allegedly dedicated to Beeple’s collaboration with the fashion house Louis Vuitton. In total, the attackers earned about ~$438,000 in digital assets.
In March 2021, Beeple sold at Christie’s auction the work Everydays: The First 5000 Days as an NFT for $60.3 million. Including fees, the buyer paid $69.3 million.
In May 2022, the artist announced the release of a co-branded NFT collection with pop star Madonna.
