Binance gives US users 14 days to withdraw funds

American users of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance have received notices demanding they leave the platform within a 14-day window, according to Decrypt.

The company has asked US residents with Binance.com accounts to withdraw their funds and register on Binance.US.

\n

“If this is not done, your account will be blocked. After the block, to receive further assistance you will need to contact customer support,” the exchange said in the letter.

A Binance spokesperson told The Block that the company takes the issue of regulatory compliance very seriously. In his words, disconnecting US users is an existing control measure, “not something new.”

\n

Earlier, for trading on the platform, US customers could indicate during registration that they were not affiliated with the United States.

\n

On November 10 Binance sent out letters to users based on their IP addresses, asking them to withdraw funds from the platform within 90 days.
