Binance Labs to Undergo Rebranding

Binance’s venture arm plans to change its name. One reason is the return of CZ and his desire to be personally involved in this area.

Binance’s venture division will expand its investment activities, covering not only primary market operations but also secondary market liquidity deals, including OTC. The company is ready to invest in startups at all stages of development.

In 2024, Binance Labs supported 46 projects, including:

• 14 through the BNB-focused MVB program and the Labs incubation program without such a focus;
• 32 through direct investments.

The distribution between teams developing infrastructure solutions and dapps was roughly even.

By sector, the investment structure is as follows:

• DeFi — 10;
• AI — 7;
• Bitcoin ecosystem — 7;
• Restaking — 4;
• Blockchain games — 3;
• ZK — 2;
• RWA — 2;
• Consumer dapps — 2.

Other investments cover infrastructure—from security to wallet and blockchain abstraction—and emerging sectors like the Move ecosystem and DeSci.

In 2024, the company maintained a diversified portfolio, including projects in TON, Solana, Ethereum, and major L2s.

Binance Labs also invested in teams from emerging ecosystems like Berachain, Monad, Initia, and more established ones such as Stacks, Celestia, and Bittensor.

The organization anticipates a dynamic phase of industry development in 2025, driven by the creation of a favorable regulatory environment in the US. This shift will boost institutional investor interest and increase investments in the cryptocurrency sector, accelerating its transition to a more mature stage of development.

Key areas for Binance Labs in 2025 will include cryptocurrencies and blockchain, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and innovations at the intersection of these fields.

Games, ZK, and privacy solutions may regain interest as they move from development to production, enabling new use cases.

Existing areas like DeSci, RWA/stablecoins, and AI agents will continue to thrive.

Back in June, the BNB Chain ecosystem and Binance Labs launched the BNB Incubation Alliance, aimed at supporting early-stage Web3 projects.
