Bitcoin hash rate hits a record high

Bitcoin’s hash rate has climbed to a record high, surpassing 129 EH/s. Over the past month this metric rose by 14%, according to data from Blockchain.com.

The year’s low at 90 EH/s was reached after the Bitcoin halving in late May. In early July this metric had recovered to previous levels, and by now has gained more than 43%.

According to Bitinfocharts, the hash rate surpasses 133 EH/s; however the historical maximum of 139.56 EH/s was recorded on July 25.

The average time to mine a block has declined over the course of the week. It currently stands at 9.4 minutes.

The median fee on the Bitcoin network fell from $3.7 at the end of July to $1, the lowest level since the halving, reached in mid-June at $0.2.

Previously Coin Metrics unveiled a new metric that, they claim, provides a more timely and accurate picture of hash rate calculations. Later, a similar tool was developed by the American bitcoin exchange Kraken.
