Bitcoin mining difficulty hits fresh all-time high again

As a result of another recalculation mining difficulty of the first cryptocurrency rose by 2.35%, hitting a new all-time high at 62.4 T. 

The average network hash rate rose to near 450 EH/s for the first time. The interval between blocks averaged under 9.5 minutes.

According to Glassnode, on October 12 the smoothed 7-day moving average reached a peak of 456.9 EH/s. Since then it has corrected and, at the time of writing, stands at 445.4 EH/s.

Bitcoin’s hashrate will likely continue surging due to the price pump coupled with the fact that miners are trying to outpace each other in upgrading fleets ahead of the halving.

Earlier in October, Bitmain released Antminer T21 with a hashing rate of 190 TH/s and an energy efficiency of 19 J/T. The device is designed to mine cryptocurrencies on the SHA-256 algorithm, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV.
