Bitcoin price breaks above $46,000

On Monday, 9 August, the price of the leading cryptocurrency rose above $46,000 for the first time since its May decline.

The market capitalisation of Bitcoin rose above the $860 billion mark, according to CoinMarketCap. The overall market capitalisation of cryptocurrencies exceeded $1.9 trillion, according to CoinGecko.

Earlier on August 9, Bloomberg Intelligence's senior commodity strategist Mike McGlone forecasted a rise in the price of the leading cryptocurrency to $100,000.
