Bitcoin price falls below $33,000; market capitalization slides to $972 billion

Bitcoin continued to slide, slipping below the $33,000 level. In the past 24 hours, Bitcoin has fallen 6.4%, according to CoinGecko.

The chart below shows a pronounced downtrend amid a surge in trading volumes. As of writing, digital gold is trading around $32,800.

Prices also declined for the top ten by market capitalization. Ethereum fell 6.7% and traded around $1,250, although a few days ago its price reached an all-time high.

Total market capitalization fell below the $1 trillion mark. According to CoinGecko, the gauge stands at $972 billion.

Earlier JPMorgan noted the importance of the bitcoin price staying above the $40,000 level.
