Bitcoin price hits a new all-time high above $24,000

Bitcoin rose to a new all-time high on Saturday, December 19, surpassing the $24,000 mark.

The previous record was set on Thursday, December 17, when Bitcoin price rose to above $23,700.

Bitcoin’s market capitalization at the time of writing stood at $444 billion.

In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin rose by more than 6%; over the past week, by nearly 33%.

Earlier this week, Guggenheim Partners’ CIO Scott Minerd predicted a rise to $400,000. He said he was impressed by the rapid rise in Bitcoin’s price, but his purchase above $20,000 was described as ‘somewhat more problematic’. In November, the firm said it planned to allocate a portion of its portfolio to the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust.
