Bitdeer Develops 4nm Chip for Bitcoin Mining

According to the statement, the firm utilized 4nm technology from a leading “global semiconductor manufacturer.”

During testing, the chip achieved an energy efficiency level of 18.1 J/TH.

Bitdeer noted that it has “invested significant resources in research and development,” understanding the challenges faced by miners. The solution aims to provide cryptocurrency miners with “efficiency, stability, scalability, and resilience” in their equipment.

“We have assembled an international team of professional engineers specializing in chip design, firmware, and hardware,” the company stated.

Bitdeer added that it is actively preparing for the mass production of miners, but did not specify the release date for the Sealminer A1.

During the inaugural Mining Awards 2023, Bitdeer recognized Bitmain’s Antminer S21 as the “Technological Breakthrough of the Year.” According to the manufacturer’s website, the Bitcoin miner consumes 17.5 J/TH at a hash rate of 200 TH/s. The S21 Hyd model with liquid cooling has figures of 335 TH/s and 16 J/TH, respectively.

In early 2021, Jihan Wu left Bitmain, having co-founded the company. As part of a settlement, he acquired Bitdeer, the BTC.com pool, cryptocurrency mining data centers outside China, and $600 million. The agreement ended a prolonged conflict with former partner Micree Zhan.

In April 2023, Bitdeer went public on Nasdaq through a reverse merger with SPAC Blue Safari Group Acquisition Corp.

In May, the company signed an agreement with Bhutan’s state-owned Druk Holding & Investments to develop Bitcoin mining operations.

Within two months, Bitdeer completed the construction of a mining facility in the country.
