Bloomberg reports Apple is building a ChatGPT rival

Apple is working on its own artificial intelligence (AI) tools that could compete with OpenAI’s products. The Bloomberg article says so.

According to the agency, the company has developed a framework for building large language models called Ajax. Using it, a group of engineers, as an experiment, launched an internal chatbot, known to staff as Apple GPT.

Journalists have found that it is used to prototype products. Apple GPT is reportedly able to summarize textual information and answer questions; it exists as a web app with a simplified design. According to the press, the company currently has no plans to make the chatbot public.

Some of the framework’s developments have already been used to improve Search, Siri, and Maps, according to Bloomberg.

In March, the AI startup Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI employees, launched its chatbot with the Claude artificial intelligence.

Later, the Hugging Face team introduced a ChatGPT alternative.

Analysts at Stanford University and the University of California concluded that OpenAI’s latest chatbot models began giving less accurate answers to the same set of questions after several months.
