In 2024, BNB Chain developers will focus on optimizing state and data storage by implementing the PBSS model, as well as introducing EVM 3.0 among node operators and validators. This is according to a report obtained by ForkLog.
The document states that last year, BNB Chain became one of the most actively used L1 blockchains, reaching a historical peak of 32 million transactions per day and 2000 TPS.
OpBNB emerged as the “most active” layer-two solution with an ATH of 71 million transactions per day, 4500 TPS, and a gas fee of ~$0.001.
The team plans for opBNB to “transform” into opBNB Connect this year, aimed at supporting large decentralized applications with high throughput. The initiative will focus on DePIN, DeSoc, AI, and GameFi.
The gas cost in opBNB will decrease nearly tenfold to less than $0.0001, and its limit will double from 100 million to 200 million. This will enable up to 10,000 transactions per second.
Additionally, BNB Chain will increase the number of active validators from 40 to 100 and implement a fusion with Beacon Chain to “optimize solutions at different levels and accelerate decentralization.”
Developers will also introduce BNB Greenfield 2.0, aimed at enhancing network performance, adding new features to improve development experience, and building more specific data storage and usage infrastructure.
The first version of the solution for decentralized on-chain information structuring in the ecosystem was launched in October 2023.
“In 2024, we urge all developers to build on BNB Chain and contribute to the incredible growth of Web3. As our ecosystem continues to expand, we see it as our mission to establish a unified and powerful multichain paradigm to make the ecosystem fast, economical, scalable, and user-friendly,” the blockchain team stated.
As reported, by the end of 2023, financial losses in BNB Chain from security breaches decreased by 85%, from $1.11 billion to $161 million. However, there were 414 incidents over the past 12 months, a 44% increase from 2022.
Earlier, developers presented the opBNB roadmap aimed at boosting performance and reducing transaction costs in the network.
