
Buterin Sells MOODENG Memecoins and Donates Proceeds to Charity
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin sold 10 billion MOODENG memecoins for 308.7 ETH (approximately $765,576 at current rates) using Cow Swap and transferred 260.15 ETH to charity.
He still holds 40 billion MOODENG (approximately $4.32 million).
Previously, the developer exchanged several memecoins, including:
- 70.71 million Neiro;
- 11.76 billion MOODENG;
- 7.8 million DEGEN;
- 16.03 billion KABOSU.

Buterin noted his appreciation for memecoin creators who donate part of their tokens to charity.
I appreciate all the memecoins that donate portions of their supply directly to charity.
(eg. I saw ebull sent a bunch to various groups last month)

“Anything sent to me gets donated to charity too (thanks moodeng! Today’s 10 billion will go towards technology to combat airborne diseases). Though I would prefer if you guys sent money directly. Maybe even create a DAO and involve your community in decision-making and the process,” he remarked.
In October, Buterin donated 100 ETH (~$242,000) to the legal defense fund for Tornado Cash developers Alexey Pertsev and Roman Storm.
Earlier in September, he suggested developing a set of metrics to measure how well projects align with Ethereum’s values.
