Central Bank of Russia reports first digital-ruble transfers between citizens
The Bank of Russia рассказал about the start of testing the digital ruble platform in cooperation with market participants. Three banks from the pilot group have already connected to it.
Two of them (ВТБ и ПСБ) successfully carried out the full cycle of operations for transferring digital rubles between clients via the banks’ mobile apps.
Clients opened digital wallets on the platform and swapped non-cash rubles for digital ones. They then conducted transfers of digital assets between themselves.
The remaining participants in the pilot will join the platform testing as their IT systems are completed, the Bank of Russia said.
The first group for piloting the digital ruble included 12 banks.
The central bank announced the readiness of the platform prototype at the end of December. The digital ruble, as the third form of money, is planned to be launched by 2030.
