Chainlink Unveils Web3 Platform Functions

The oracle network Chainlink launched the Functions platform, connecting decentralized applications (dapps) to traditional web platforms.

Blockchain developers will be able to connect their dapps or smart contracts to any Web 2.0 platform, the Chainlink blog says.

Developers won’t need to access cloud storage, as the platform is integrated with providers such as Amazon Web Services.

The beta version of Functions is already running on the Sepolia (Ethereum) and Mumbai (Polygon) testnets.

According to Chainlink product director Kemal El-Mudjahid, the launch of the new platform will remove significant barriers to the adoption of Web3.

«We are simplifying for developers the bringing together of smart contracts with powerful API and Web 2.0 data sources they need to build amazing applications», he said.

The oracle network allows smart contracts and applications to interact with off-chain data sources in a secure and decentralized manner.

According to data from Dune Analytics, more than 650,000 active users use Chainlink.

Earlier this month, MakerDAO integrated a decentralized oracle network into the Keeper Network framework, supporting DAI stability.

In the same month, Israeli startup StarkWare expanded collaboration with Chainlink to accelerate the rollout of its L2 solution StarkNet.
