Charles Hoskinson Foresees Ethereum’s Demise in 10-15 Years
In the next 10-15 years, Ethereum will face a mass migration of users. This prediction was made by Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson during an AMA session.
The developer noted that Ethereum’s current architecture cannot handle scaling demands and contains inherent issues.
According to Hoskinson, the ecosystem’s governance model creates long-term vulnerabilities. Users are gradually shifting to alternative platforms, especially with the rise of L2 solutions, he emphasized.
The developer argues that the approach to second-layer networks needs to be reconsidered, as they “parasitize” the main blockchain.
He also pointed out flaws in the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), the Proof-of-Stake algorithm, and the accounting model. In Hoskinson’s view, many problems could have been avoided if the Ethereum Foundation had heeded external advice.
Despite this, he positively assessed Vitalik Buterin’s recent proposal to replace the EVM with a RISC-V architecture.
However, Hoskinson stressed that technical improvements will not solve Ethereum’s deeper issues. In his opinion, if the accounting model is not revised, the blockchain will lag behind more adaptive networks.
Back in September 2024, the Cardano founder called Ethereum a Buterin dictatorship. He pointed out that the network’s governance model is overly dependent on its co-founder.
