China Unveils $41,200 Humanoid Robot
Chinese firm UBTech Robotics has introduced a humanoid robot priced at 299,000 yuan ($41,200), according to SCMP.
The Tien Kung Xingzhe was developed in collaboration with the Beijing Innovation Centre for Humanoid Robots. It is available for pre-order, with deliveries expected in the second quarter.
Standing at 1.7 meters tall, the robot can move at speeds of up to 10 km/h. Tien Kung Xingzhe easily adapts to various surfaces—from slopes and stairs to sand and snow—maintaining smooth movements and stability when faced with collisions and external disturbances.
The robot is designed for research tasks requiring enhanced durability and stability. It operates on the new Huisi Kaiwu system from X-Humanoid. The centre was established in 2023 by UBTech and several organisations, including Xiaomi, focusing on the development of products and applied systems for humanoids.
UBTech’s device marks a step towards making humanoid robots more affordable, notes SCMP. Previously, Unitree Robotics garnered public attention by offering an 1.8-meter version of the H1 for 650,000 yuan ($89,500). These robots performed folk dances during the Lunar New Year broadcast on China Central Television in January.
EngineAI’s PM01 model is sold for 88,000 yuan ($12,000), though it stands at 1.38 meters. Another bipedal version, the SA01, is available for $5,400, but lacks an upper body.
Back in June 2024, Elon Musk stated that humanoid robots Optimus would drive Tesla’s market capitalization to $25 trillion.
