The chief executive of Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, has dubbed Bitcoin the ‘most important’ cryptocurrency, while confirming the exchange’s plan to integrate the Lightning Network (LN).
The team did a great job digging into this, and we’ve made the decision to integrate Lightning. Bitcoin is the most important asset in crypto and we’re excited to do our part to enable faster/cheaper Bitcoin transactions. Will take some time to integrate so please be patient. https://t.co/FneeXkLI25

‘The team did a great job digging into this, and we’ve decided to integrate Lightning,’ said the exchange’s chief.
He added that implementing the L2 network would take ‘some time’ and urged users to be patient.
Armstrong’s remarks followed consultations on implementing LN.
The Block’s head, Jack Dorsey, asked Coinbase co-founder why he continues to ignore Bitcoin and Lightning.
We’re looking into how to best add Lightning. It’s non-trivial, but I think worth doing. I’m all for payments taking off in Bitcoin.
Not sure why you think we’re ignoring Bitcoin — we’ve onboarded more people to Bitcoin than probably any company in the world.
Let’s build it… https://t.co/9dFGYd6XZt

According to LookIntoBitcoin data, the capacity of the Lightning Network for microtransactions has grown over the past year, but began to soften in mid-summer. At the time of writing, the figure stood at 4,745 BTC ($124.3 million).
Binance, Bitfinex, Kraken, OKX и BitMEX уже have integrated Lightning Network.
