
Coinbase launches crypto-futures trading for U.S. residents
The Coinbase platform, via its subsidiary Coinbase Financial Markets открыла retail clients in the United States access to trading of regulated crypto futures settled in USD.

“Contracts denominated at 1/100 of a Bitcoin and 1/10 of an Ethereum are intended for retail traders,” according to the release.

The launch of the service was preceded by obtaining in August approval from the CFTC-authorized self-regulatory organization CFTC NFA.
\n\n\n\n
Then Coinbase’s vice president of institutional products, Greg Tousar, described the event as a “critical milestone” for the company. According to the senior executive, the crypto-derivatives market accounts for roughly 75% of turnover in digital assets.

The company filed an application with the NFA in September 2021.
\n\n\n\n
In 2022, the exchange acquired FairX — a CFTC-regulated crypto-derivatives platform, which was renamed Coinbase Derivatives Exchange.

The platform is open to external brokers, FCM, and market makers.
\n\n\n\n
In May 2023, Coinbase launched an international exchange for trading crypto derivatives.
