Coinbase to cast Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs in The Degen Trilogy film series

The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced a casting call for NFTs from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection to be featured in the forthcoming three-part film The Degen Trilogy.

Owners of the selected collectible assets will receive a licensing payment of $10 000 in bitcoin or ApeCoin tokens.

The first episode of the series is expected to be presented at the NFT.NYC conference. The event will run June 20–23.

The BAYC team stated that for the casting of the second part of the film, tokens from the Mutant Ape Yacht Club collection could also participate.

According to the description, the film’s action unfolds in Manhattan’s financial district, where ‘digital goods and services have, for the first time, surpassed all others as a measure of value’.

Coinbase said it does not anticipate profits from the film, and all proceeds will be donated to a nonprofit organization.

Meanwhile, two BAYC community members opened a restaurant in California called Bored & Hungry. For the branding of the establishment, Kevin Seo and Andy Nguyen used the NFT ‘Bored Ape’ #6184.

Customers can pay with Ethereum or ApeCoin.

Notably, BAYC owners include Eminem, Madonna and reportedly Justin Bieber.
