The cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is testing a new subscription-based service that will give users access to additional features, according to The Block.

Initially, the product named Coinbase One will be offered to a limited number of users. Among its advantages are zero-fee trading and priority phone support ‘even on holidays and weekends’.

Presumably, the subscription service is meant to diversify Coinbase’s retail business, which earns most of its revenue from transaction fees. What fee the exchange will charge for the new service remains unknown.

The company also plans to expand asset protection for Coinbase One users.
\n\n
“If any funds in your Coinbase account are stolen by someone you do not know as a result of an account takeover, you may be entitled to compensation of up to $1 million,” the publication quotes the exchange’s statement.
\n\n
Earlier, it emerged that massive breach of about six thousand Coinbase accounts. The exchange pledged to reimburse the losses to those affected.

In April, unknown attackers gained access to the account of one Coinbase client thanks to a fake notification allegedly from the exchange. The user’s assets worth $11.6 million were stolen, according to the investigation materials.

To improve its customer support, Coinbase will acquire the Agara startup, which provides AI-based services.
