Singapore residents were the most active in seeking information about the latest Ethereum update. This is stated in a CoinGecko study.
Using Google Trends data, analysts calculated the number of English-language searches related to The Merge, from July 1 to September 4.
The ranking was led by Singapore with an overall score of 377. Its residents searched for terms “Ethereum Merge”, “ETH Classic” and “Ethereum” more than others.
Switzerland and Canada share second place with the same score—286. Swiss residents had the most queries for “ETH” and “ETH Merge”, while Canada ranks first worldwide for the term “ETH PoW”.
“Ethereum Merge” and “ETH Merge” globally account for 16% of total search queries.
In Germany, the United States and Turkey, the highest search activity for the term “Ethereum PoW” was observed, while the Netherlands and Australia rank third and fourth in the number of “ETH Merge” queries.
The chief operating officer and cofounder of CoinGecko, Bobby Ong, explained the results as reflecting strong Ethereum communities in each country. The mining community planning the Ethereum PoW fork (ETHW) also had some influence on the study’s outcomes.
On 15 September at 9:42 (Kyiv/Moscow time), developers activated the The Merge update on the Ethereum mainnet. The blockchain was successfully migrated to the PoS consensus algorithm.
A few hours after The Merge went live, the ETHW team announced the mainnet launch, but faced issues.
