The interoperability-focused blockchain project Connext has unveiled the Amarok upgrade. It will enable developers to build cross-chain-apps.
After 1 year of R&D, we’re excited to announce that Connext’s Amarok upgrade is live!
Connext becomes the ONLY solution that:
🔐Maximizes security for any bridging path: the most trust-minimized xchain protocol — EVER
⚙️Is a platform to build xApps

The upgrade will also unlock DeFi operations, such as liquidity provision.
Founder and CEO Arjun Bhupani explained the significance of cross-chain apps using a Web 2.0 example.
“Today, when you are looking for cat videos on YouTube, you don’t need to know anything about Google’s complex distributed database infrastructure. You simply interact with the application,” he explained.
According to Bhupatani, Connext differs from other cross-chain bridges in that it has ‘the best assumptions about security and trust’.
“Inter-domain communication is a difficult topic to understand, with a lot of misinformation and propaganda spread by bridge projects. There is a high likelihood of disaster if everything is not done correctly,” he explained.
In 2021, Connext raised $12 million from 1kx and the ConsenSys-backed Mesh firm.
In April 2022, the project team introduced the native token NEXT and announced the creation a DAO.
Earlier, Connext joined the list of authorised bridges for the MetaMask Bridges feature of the MetaMask wallet.
