ConsenSys developers open access to zkEVM testnet

On March 28, the zkEVM testnet for scaling Ethereum became publicly available, according to the ConsenSys team. It has been renamed Linea.

Layer 2 network uses zero-knowledge proofs technology (ZK-Rollups).

\n\n\n\n

Linea is fully compatible with EVM. This means the solution supports mainnet code, and developers can use existing tools and infrastructure.

\n\n\n\n

Several projects have already integrated into the testnet, including the crypto wallet MetaMask and the developer service Truffle.

\n\n\n\n

According to ConsenSys, the network has already processed more than 1.5 million transactions.

“Linea combines the power of zero-knowledge proofs with full EVM equivalence, enabling developers to create scalable decentralized applications or port existing ones without the need to modify code and rewrite smart contracts,” the announcement said.

ConsenSys added that the special validation mechanism ‘ensures faster transaction throughput and lowers gas costs without compromising security’.

\n\n\n\n

The project team has also prepared educational materials, guides and technical documentation for new developers.

On March 27, the Polygon project launched the beta version of the zkEVM mainnet for scaling Ethereum. The solution also uses ZK-Rollups.
