Corporate Bitcoin Strategies to Drive Growth in 2025, Says Wintermute

The use of corporate capital to purchase Bitcoin as a reserve asset, following the example of MicroStrategy, is set to become a major trend in 2025, according to Wintermute trader Jake Ostrowskis, as reported by The Block.

The expert suggested that small and medium-sized businesses might also begin to adopt this strategy.

As of now, MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin reserves have reached 444,262 BTC, valued at approximately $83.5 billion at the time of writing. Since August 2020, the corporation has spent around $27.7 billion on acquiring the leading cryptocurrency, with an average purchase price of about $62,257.

Ostrowskis highlighted the issuance of convertible bonds by mining companies MARA and Riot to convert funds into digital gold, similar to MicroStrategy’s approach.

Organizations aim to strengthen their balance sheets while simultaneously boosting their stock prices.

“Everyone is talking about the impact of ETFs. The real driving force is the prospect of pension and sovereign funds. […] There is still a whole pool of capital in corporations that is more flexible and moves faster than such large institutions,” Ostrowskis pointed out.

According to him, traditional hedge funds have become more interested in the cryptocurrency market due to emerging opportunities.

“They are applying old strategies they used for trading stocks. […] This is evident in the flows we are observing,” Ostrowskis noted.

The expert did not rule out that companies might add Ethereum to their balance sheets alongside Bitcoin.

“It’s only a matter of time before someone creates an equivalent and turns themselves into an Ethereum investment vehicle,” he speculated.

Despite the significant rise in valuations and inclusion in the Nasdaq 100 index, MicroStrategy faces criticism for its strategy of creating shareholder value through accumulating Bitcoin on its balance sheet, including through debt capital.
