Dash team unveils updated Dash Platform for DApps
Developers at Dash Core Group (DCG) announced the release of an updated version of the Dash Platform v0.15, the technology stack for building decentralized applications.
Release Announcement: Dash Platform v0.15 on Evonet. We are getting closer to testnet! 💪
-Document binary properties
-Protocol versioning
-DPNS improvements
-JS wallet library refactoring
-Distribution package improvements

This is the fourth update since the platform’s Evonet testnet launch. The project team typically releases them every six weeks. The next one is expected between 6 and 20 October.
Among the changes are protocol versioning features that address compatibility between previously created data and new software versions. Previously, Dash developers had to manually wipe data on Evonet and update the software with every new release.
“While this approach is suitable for early testing, it is not fit for the testnet and mainnet. To accommodate different data versions, nodes and clients operating in concert, the DCG developers introduced versioning, enabling smooth rollout of critical changes without impacting user interaction,” said DCG’s head of product Dana Alibrandi.
Other updates include:
- Optimization of binary data storage in applications;
- Simplification of transaction processing logic in the JavaScript wallet library;
- Changes to the endpoints of the decentralized API, reducing potential attack surfaces;
- Several improvements to the pending Dash Platform Name Service (DPNS) launch;
- Changes to the distribution package that streamline masternode deployment.
In the first quarter of 2020, the number of commercial payments using Dash rose by 104% compared with the previous period.
