Deripaska: Even a Poor El Salvador Has Realised the Need for Digital Currencies

Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska criticised the Bank of Russia’s stance on Bitcoin. He wrote about it on his Telegram channel.

Deripaska stated that “even a poor El Salvador” recognised Bitcoin as a means of payment:

“When will the development of financial technologies pierce a hole in this wall of our central bank’s superstition? When will we, besides denials and press releases about the ‘development of the digital ruble’, obtain a real financial instrument that ensures independence in external trade settlements?”

Meanwhile the Bank of Russia “prefers to tighten the screws,” Deripaska stressed.

Earlier, Deripaska said that the People’s Bank of China’s issuance of a digital currency will undermine the position of the US dollar in the global financial system.
