The document ‘Path to the Mainnet’ does not contain specific dates.
It lists five criteria required to launch the network:
- successful activation of the Regolith hard fork in the testnet;
- a positive outcome of the infrastructure review by the team Optimism Labs;
- upgrading the OP mainnet to Bedrock;
- completion of checks with no critical issues;
- stability of the testnet
The first two criteria have been met.
Bedrock will implement lower fees, shorter deposit times, and a number of other changes.
In Optimism, the update will take place on June 6. In Base, concrete timelines have not been set.
In a discussion with Cointelegraph, a project representative promised to outline timelines for implementing the aforementioned stages soon.
After completing all procedures, the so-called ‘genesis window’ will open — project teams will be able to deploy dapps in the base network. Coinbase will provide all necessary support.
Separately, developers reiterated that there are no plans to issue a utility token.
In February 2023, Coinbase launched the Base testnet on the OP Stack architecture OP Stack. Base will interact with the company’s core products, including Coinbase Wallet.
Earlier in March 2023, the team unveiledpriority directions for developing the Base ecosystem.
