Disruptions Hit Linea and Polygon Networks

Linea and Polygon networks faced disruptions on September 10.

On September 10, the Layer 2 network Linea, developed by ConsenSys, experienced operational disruptions, as reported by journalist Colin Wu.

The blockchain ceased processing blocks for 46 minutes. By the time of writing, developers had resolved the issue, and the network was operating normally. The causes of the incident remain unknown, as the team has not commented on the matter.

At 18:00 MSK, the launch of the LINEA token is scheduled, along with its listing on exchanges such as Bybit and OKX and the distribution of coins.

On September 3, the project launched an airdrop checker. Users will be able to claim assets from September 10 to December 9. Linea will distribute 9.36 billion tokens among 749,662 addresses. The rewards are intended for participants of the Linea Voyage (LXP) and Linea Surge (LXP-L) campaigns.

In January, Linea Association excluded 516,960 wallets from the total list of 1.29 million eligible for the airdrop. Previously, the head of the L2 network, Declan Fox, stated that the team had filtered out over 800,000 Sybil addresses using Proof-of-Humanity.

Disruption in Polygon

Simultaneously, issues arose in the Polygon mainnet. At the time of writing, the blockchain had not produced new blocks for over two hours. Developer Sifu noted this.

The project team has yet to respond to the incident. Amid the situation, the price of the network’s native token, POL, has fallen by more than 3%.

Back on July 30, another disruption occurred in the Polygon network. Developers explained that the issue was due to problems with the blockchain’s “coordinator,” Heimdall. One of the validators unexpectedly ceased operations, halting the creation of new blocks.
