Interest in the topic arose after CZ mentioned his pet and promised to “think for a day or two” about providing additional information.
Following the next post with details on the Pump.fun platform and its counterparts, the number of tokens with similar names surged.
The aggregator DEX Screener currently indexes 30 such assets, GeckoTerminal — 10. In one instance, the market capitalisation exceeded $150 million.
“I never thought Broccoli would become part of the blockchain ecosystem. […] It’s never boring in cryptocurrency,” Zhao shared.
CZ emphasised that he merely posted a photo of his pet and is not launching his own meme coin. The entrepreneur acknowledged that this could happen “if the community decides so.”
“I will likely interact with several coins on the BNB Chain. The BNB Foundation may encourage the best meme coins with liquidity or other rewards. […] Details soon,” Zhao explained.
The excitement surrounding Broccoli caused issues on the BNB Chain network.
On February 12, BNB Chain developers unveiled a technical roadmap for 2025. Among other things, the document suggests a stronger focus on supporting meme coins.
Earlier, Binance analysed the popularity of AI agents and meme coins, which became leading narratives in 2024.
