Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump congratulated the crypto community as Bitcoin hit $100,000.

“Congratulations to the Bitcoiners! $100,000! Cheers! Together we will make America great again,” he wrote on the social network Truth.

Trump has reasons to consider this milestone partly his achievement. He is expected to deregulate and adopt a friendly stance towards digital assets and businesses in the industry. Moreover, the new president influenced the decision of Gary Gensler—one of the most criticized officials in the crypto community—to step down as head of the SEC.

However, experts note that Trump is just one factor. Other influences on the price include the halving and the prospects of establishing a Bitcoin reserve in the U.S. The change in leadership amplified the effect of these factors.
